TRAIL INFORMATION

 ROCHELLE AREA TRAIL INFO

February 8, 2010

The new trail section by Lindenwood over the Kilbuck Creek is now open.

 STILLMAN VALLEY AREA TRAIL INFO

WHY IT IS IMPORTANT TO STAY BETWEEN THE TRAIL MARKERS!!!

January 13, 2010

We have lost a section of trail south of Stillman Valley due to the land owner removing the signs from his property, at first he said it was alright to ride on the edge of his field, but when the field is no till and nice and smooth, the riders keep moving farther into the field and that is why he got mad this year and pulled the signs. This section of trail is located on the south west corner of Big Mound Rd and Armore Rd.  and takes you south to Kings. Please stay out of his field and ride in the ditch only.

BYRON AREA TRAIL INFO

January 11, 2010

The south trail that used to go to LeafRiver and we were changing to go to Mt. Morris/Oregon is done and marked.

 ROCHELLE AREA TRAIL INFO

December 27, 2009

Also the new trail section by Lindenwood over the Kilbuck Creek is closed. The bridge is completely under water.  Signs have been posted trail closed.

PECATONICA AREA TRAIL INFO

December 27, 2009

Trails North through the Pec Wetlands and on the East side of Pecatonica near the sewer plant by the river are closed due to high water. A detour is marked along the roadways, please use caution.  If you have questions call Ron at 815.289.4104.

 BYRON AREA TRAIL INFO

December 11, 2009

Please note that the trail west of Byron then south of IL 72 only goes to Rock River Marine, you can't go farther as the trail is not marked and muzzle loading deer hunting is going on. Later in the year, that trail will go to Mt Morris but not to Leaf River anymore.  To go from Byron to Leaf River, you need to take the trail that stays on the north side of IL 72 by a mile or so.

Important Snowmobile Trail Information

December 7, 2009

With the forecast snow we would like to remind all Northern Illinois snowmobilers:

Most Snowmobile Trails in N. Central Illinois are only open from DECEMBER 15 to MARCH 15, and there must be AT LEAST 4 INCHES OF SNOW ON THE TRAILS!!!

This year with the very late harvesting of farm crops many of the area trails are not finished being marked yet. Almost all of the Illinois trails run across farm land. Not all the crops have been harvested yet in some areas. We do not want people riding a trail and find out it stops at a standing corn field. In many cases then they either ride where they are not suppose to or run down the corn. Both have happened in the past! If someone tells you that a trail is open before Dec. 15 that does not mean that ALL the trails connected to it are open. Check with the local snowmobile club to see if their trails are open.

The ditches along most county roads are available to ride but can also be very dangerous. Please watch for all the culverts, right of way markers and utility poles/boxes. Remember there are always culverts & field entrances for about every farm field you ride next to. Snowmobilers must also abide by all state and local laws when riding along roads.

All of these trails are put in by CLUB MEMBERS, volunteering their time to put in the snowmobile trails so everyone can ride them. If you ride the trails you should belong to the local snowmobile club. This would help either physically or monetarily to support the trails you ride. With your help the trails could be finished faster!!!

Looking at the forecast this snow could be here for awhile.
